Armand and Ellen met at school in 2009 it was immediate attraction from the first time they saw each other on Armand’s first day starting a new school in Australia. Ellen instantly knew that she wanted to get to know more about him.
“We were always eyeing each other up at school and I finally plucked up the courage to invite him over. From then on we continued to grow closer to one another and it wasn’t long before we knew we were falling in love” recalls Ellen.
Armand decided to propose to his unsuspecting girl on their 6 year anniversary. She means so much to him so he knew he wanted to make it extra special, with an abundance of flowers and he really wanted it to be a surprise.
He enlisted the services of the creative proposal team at 'Amazing Proposals' and together we finalised the plan for the sparkling sunset proposal.
Being one of his favourite Brisbane parks, Armand picked New Farm Park Rotunda which had just turned 100 years old, to be the special place where he would pop the question after they left work that day.
The team at Amazing Proposals were bursting with excitement with this brief, particularly as the proposal was planned to take place at sunset. So with this in mind, we created a beautiful light filled elegant space with a lit up chandelier, festoon lighting and LED trees, complimented by an abundance of blooming fresh pink vendela roses and soft pink carnations, lining the aisle of fresh rose petals that would lead them to that very special moment.
Armand loved the idea of incorporating a photographer to discreetly capture the moment - paparazzi style!
Once the set up was ready we hid behind some bushes until we spotted the gorgeous young couple walking towards us, then we hit play on the PA System and Michael Buble’s ‘Everything’ began to play.
Holding hands, Armand guided Ellen towards the rotunda and walked her down the aisle of petals before dropping to one knee. Our photographer discreetly captured it all from outside the rotunda without Ellen even being aware that she was there!
The couple celebrated their engagement over champange and a cheese and fruit platter.
Ellen tells us about the most memorable evening of her surprise proposal.
Describe Armand in 3 words
It's very hard to describe Armand in 3 words as he is so much more but I would describe him as loving, caring and unique. To me he is one of a kind and couldn't ask for a better man!
Tell us about the proposal
The night of the proposal was our 6 year anniversary from the day Armand asked me to be his girlfriend. Having been together this long, I was simply just expecting that we would head out for a nice dinner.
But little did I know I was in for such an amazing surprise! We arrived at Brisbane’s New Farm Park as the sun was beginning to set and I instantly saw this beautiful rotunda all lit up and I said to Armand there must be a wedding going on.
Armand was directing me closer to it and I'm telling him we can't go near it as it’s someone's wedding. Next minute he is leading me up the stairs and my eyes filled up as I saw the most beautiful setting of flowers and candles and I realised he was about to ask me to marry him.
It was the best surprise and he did it so incredibly well! He walked me down an aisle of fresh rose petals lined with flickering candles and pink roses, then he dropped to one knee and popped the question!
Whilst trying to take it all in and so gob smacked by the beautiful ring he got me, we relaxed with sparkling wine and nibbled on a cheese and fruit platter.
It wasn’t until after he had popped the question I realised he had even arranged for a photographer to be there who captured it all!
After we had spent time at the rotunda we headed off to a beautiful restaurant by the water.
I couldn't have asked for a better proposal from the man I love. The set up for the proposal was absolutely amazing, he did an awesome job and we are both so grateful for everything that Amazing Proposals did to make it such a magical moment for us.
After the couple had time to take it all in, our photographer did a mini engagement style shoot with them.
Planning and styling by Brisbane Wedding Decorators
Proposing in Brisbane doesn't get much more romantic than this! A fresh floral lined aisle with glowing candles and an abundance of beautifully scented pink and red rose petals set the perfect scene for this romantic Brisbane proposal.
Bart planned a night time proposal on the first day of summer for his beautiful girl Jennifer, after 8.5 years together he knew she derserved a very special proposal.
Based in Melbourne, Brisbane is a very special place to them both so he knew it was where he wanted to pop the question.
He thoughtfully planned the romantic evening, which started with a delicious meal and drinks at George's Paragon Seafood Restaurant in the city. After dinner he told Jennifer he wanted to take her to see the Christmas lights, so they jumped on the city cat which arrived right on time at New Farm Park.
Holding hands they walked up the rose petal covered steps of the rotunda, where he held her hands and told her how he felt, before dropping to one knee, to pop the quesiton.
We were hidden well out of sight so as not to give the game away, but that didn't stop us from hearing Jennifer squeal with excitement "YES!"
We got goosebumps, and did a little silent happy dance while remaining hidden allowing them to be in and cherish the moment.
Bart also arranged a beautiful bouquet with peonies and David Austin Roses to give to his fiancee and Brisbane's finest luxury chocolates by Dello Mano for them to share and enjoy as they celebrated over champange.
Our PA System was playing Michael Bublé which really added to the romance. We even spotted them dancing together in the rotunda and throwing rose petals in the air, such a magical evening!
To top the night off, Bart arranged for a limousine from Limoso to escort the newly engaged love birds back to their hotel. A perfect way to conclude such a perfect proposal!
Congratulations on your engagement Bart and Jennifer we wish you every happiness for your future together.
